Which FS Global version do I need??
If you use
FS9 (FS2004), the best you can get is FS Global
2010 plus FS Global Ultimate - The Americas. This will give you
worldwide (every square mile!) coverage in highest possible
resolution.
Installation
tips: Install both, then start FS2004, wait for scenery
database updates to finish and go to scenery library. (Please
note: in FS2004 you can not access scenery libray through the
main menu system. Access is only availabe through the "Create
Flight" dialog at startup of FS2004. If your FS2004 directly
starts into a flight, click FLIGHTS/END FLIGHT, which will bring
up the "Create Flight" dialog. Click SETTINGS on the lower left
side and SCENERY LIBRARY on the next window. Find FS Global 2010
scenery library entries. They should be pretty much at the top
of the list. Disable the following entries: FS Global 2010 -
South America, FS Global 2010 - Antarctica, FS Global 2010 -
North America (3 items). These sceneries will be taken from FS
Global Ultimate - The Americas.
If you use
FSX the answer is more complex. The first
question you have to answer yourself is: "Do I want worldwide
coverage or continents only?" If you want continents only, go
for the FS Global Ultimate series and pick the one, which
contains the continent(s) of your choice. If you want worldwide
coverage (every square mile!), you have to answer another
question: "Should the scenery be in high or higher resolution?"
If you want high resolution, you need FS Global 2010 plus FS
Global Ultimate - The Americas. This is because FS Global 2010
does not cover Canada. Thus you need The Americas. If you want
highest possible resolution, you need the complete FS Global
Ultimate series.
Tips: Of
course all FS Global versions can be combined. They seamlessly
fit one into another. If you don't have the complete Ultimate
series, you will always need FS Global 2010 as a
base. Here you can add any of the Ultimate series. You just need
to disable the corresponding FS Global 2010 scenery layers in
FSX scenery library. So if you have FS Global 2010 plus FS
Global Ultimate - Europe/Africa, you install both and then start
FSX, wait for scenery database updates to finish and go to
scenery library (click WORLD/SCENERY LIBRARY). Find the FS
Global 2010 entries (they will be right above the 1107 BASE
scenery entry) and disable "FS Global 2010 - Africa" and "FS
Global 2010 - Europe". These sceneries will be taken from FS
Global Ultimate - Europe/Africa. This works with all of the Ultimate
series.
If you use
PREPAR3D, for you apply the same considerations
as for FSX users. Please check the information above!
